Compared to the downward revision to Germany, France and Italy, the European Commission had a slightly more optimistic forecast for Spain, albeit the main picture is still that the country will see negative growth.
The Commission predicts a 1 percent contraction for the country in 2012. That's after the Spanish central bank predicted a 1.5 percent drop and an IMF prediction of a 1.7 percent fall.
