Hong Kong's Exchange Fund foreign assets reach 272 bln USD in May
Hong Kong's Exchange Fund foreign assets amounted to 2.12 trillion HK dollars (about 272 billion U.S. dollars) in May, up 6.8 billion HK dollars from the previous month, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) said here on Tuesday.
The Monetary Base, comprising Certificates of Indebtedness, government issued currency notes and coins in circulation, the Aggregate Balance and Exchange Fund Bills and Notes issued, amounted to 1.05 trillion HK dollars, according to HKMA.
Claims on the private sector in Hong Kong amounted to 122 billion HK dollars.
Foreign liabilities, representing mainly obligations under repurchase agreements, amounted to 300 million HK dollars.
