China's retail sales of consumer goods up 16.9 pct in May

China's retail sales of consumer goods rose 16.9 percent year-on-year to 1.47 trillion yuan (226.77 billion U.S. dollars) in May this year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced on Tuesday.
