Nikkei plunges 1.82% on stronger yen, Wall Street tumble
Nikkei fell sharply in the Friday morning session on the yen's surge against major currencies and the Wall Street tumble during Japan's three-day national holidays through Thursday.
The benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 181.59 points, or 1.82 percent, from Monday to 9,822.61.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 11.00 points, or 1.27 percent, to 854.55.
