Slower growth

FRANCE'S statistics agency yesterday said the economy grew less than previously estimated in the third quarter of this year, as a new recession looms for Europe's No. 2 economy.

The Insee agency said gross domestic product grew 0.3 percent instead of 0.4 percent, in revised figures. It cited in part new figures on industrial production.

The French GDP shrank in the second quarter and Insee expected it to fall again in the fourth quarter and the first quarter of next year.
